"When you cannot make up your mind which of two evenly balanced courses of action you should take - choose the bolder" (Ezra Pound). Welcome to the chronicles of our residence at Brunnenburg in Italy's Sud Tirol, where we hope to take bold actions and lots of photographs. Thanks for visiting.

Espresso and apfelstrudel with a view
And the gelato at this riverside cafe got two thumbs up from the 3-year-old set!
The lower castle in the picture is Brunnenburg, our current home. The crofter-dwellers live in the white farmhouse behind the trees, and our (extraordinarily comfortable and charming) apartment is up one of the towers. The upper castle is Schloss Tirol, a regional museum, and the castle from which this region gets its name.
And yes, it's surrounded by a vineyard. Nik, of the family here, makes a nice vernatsch, and we enjoyed a bottle of lagrein, a popular local varietal, with dinner tonight.
