This event deserves its own post. Every Sunday at 4, Mary has tea for any of the students who wish to join her. Students go either to her apartment or out on the terrace and enjoy tea and cake and discussion of poetry, art, history, and culture.
Mary has a smaller tea most every day and has been gracious about inviting us up, especially the kiddo. He loves to see Mary, and she seems to enjoy his company (and always has a special treat just for him). Last time, he came prepared with a Basho haiku to share, and she gave him chocolates.
The picture is from this past weekend, when there weren't as many students present since we had swapped days (we had a Sunday field trip), but tea with Mary is always, as the aesthetics students will now say,
an experience.
