This one's for you, Philip

Today, we took a hike for a kaiserschmarren (pancake-y things) lunch.  Our friend and colleague Philip, who spent a few years here a while back, allegedly was crazy for the schmarren at the Longfall guesthouse, a couple of miles or so up a gently sloping trail along some cascades (and with a nice view of a waterfall at the end).  So, especially since I'm conducting research on the deliciousness of kaiserschmarren (and apfelstrudel), of course we had to go.

We enjoyed the hike, but we really enjoyed the lunch!  It was indeed the best kaiserschmarren we've had.  The kiddo walked a good bit of the trail up, and walked on his own all the way down, which is a pretty good hike for little legs.  He fell asleep on the bus back to town and even slept through tea and almost through his supper.

Philip was instrumental in setting up our program here at the castle, and allowing us to have this time at this incredible place.  Thanks, Philip!  We had Longfall kaiserschmarren in your honor.  It was the least we could do.
